Iga Kołodyńska, PhD

I graduated with a master's degree in landscape architecture, where I continued my work combining landscape and planning issues at the Institute of Spatial Management at Wroclaw University of Life Sciences, where I currently work as an assistant professor. In 2018, I defended my doctoral dissertation on methods of landscape identification and valorization for spatial planning. For the realization of my PhD, the National Science Center awarded me a Preludium grant. I have held research internships at the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Goerlitz and a research group at the Leibniz University of Hannover (Germany), as well as at Aalto University (Finland). I lead two NCN research projects Sonata and Beethoven related to the role of sound in landscape perception and the potential for grassroots pro-environmental initiatives in transboundary regions. In 2021, I was awarded a "Start" grant from the Foundation for Polish Science. Member of the Leading Research Team of Sustainable Cities and Regions. My research interests include perception of landscape change, the role of sound in landscape perception, participatory approaches in landscape valorization and management, and environmental stewardship initiatives.
